Changelog - BETA v0.2.0
Double Antonyms » Devlog
Hello everyone and welcome to the first open beta version of Double Antonyms. This version is only available for web right now, with native clients for Windows, Linux, and Android arriving later.
Note that statistics and lexicon features do not work properly in the web version of the game, therefore they will only be featured in the native release.
New Features
- Replaced the old wordlist with a much larger, more comprehensive wordlist. Please note that this wordlist was generated with the assistance of an AI tool so it’s likely far from perfect.
- Removed the dialect option in settings due to the new wordlist.
- Added a difficulty option. While the full wordlist will be available regardless of difficulty, easier difficulties will only show more common words when a new word is requested. More difficulty-based functionality to come.
- Added an erase data option. This will erase your statistics, powerups, and lexicon. This cannot be undone!
- Added the ability to leave mid-game.
- Added three powerups to the game.
Time Warp: Adds 30 seconds of additional time.
Doubler: The next word will give double points! This is risky though, as if your next guess is wrong, the number of points you stand to lose will also be doubled and your doubler will be wasted!
Last Stand: A particularly coveted powerup. If the timer runs out while this is active, you will remain in play for an additional 10 seconds to catch one final guess. If the guess is correct, you’ll reap a huge benefit of 10x points! This powerup can only be used when the timer has 5 seconds or less remaining! - Added a detailed tutorial for the benefit of new players.
- Laid down the groundwork for the upcoming Elimination game mode. (Will be available in full version only.)
- Not a new feature per se, but the mobile version of the game will be subject more lenient time limitations. Game time, as well as time given from reaching score thresholds and using time warps has been increased by 50%.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed some text characters not showing up properly in-game, specifically those on buttons.
